Lawyers battling toxic waste in Quebec water

contamination of water in Mercier Lagoons in Chateguay QuebecThe Mercier lagoons – only 20km south of Montreal, were the site of three decades of dumping of hazardous chemical bi-products and petrochemical waste from nearby oil refineries. Although now filled in, the waste has leaked into the local water sources and as a result, residents have their water piped in from another municipality. The Quebec government is withholding documents from the public and one lawyer is fighting to expose an environmental disaster.
