Thirsty Kids – California’s Water Intervention

It’s no secret that America is fighting a battle with a serious obesity problem. The fear that kids are not provided with ample healthy choices is a growing concern. With the knowledge that water consumption significantly contributes to an overall healthy lifestyle (and replaces the sugary caffeinated beverages that are so readily accessible), for the amount of time kids spend at school, they should be consuming at least one-half their total water intake at their school.

But schools face a variety of challenges when trying to provide a commodity that Americans take for granted.

California has stepped in with Water Intervention, a research program that includes free water filters and cups for five schools in the Los Angeles school district…
